Hurricane Helene is strengthening because it moves through the eastern Gulf of Mexico toward a forecast Thursday evening or early Friday early morning landfall around Florida's Huge Bend Coastline and is "predicted to deliver catastrophic winds and storm surge into the northeastern Gulf Coast," the Nationwide Hurricane Centre explained early Thursday. "Preparations to protect lifetime and home need to be rushed to completion," the center urged.

The National Weather Service warned in a post on X that, "A catastrophic and fatal storm surge is probably going alongside portions of the Florida Big Bend Coastline, the place inundation could get to as large as twenty toes previously mentioned ground level, together with destructive waves.
